What is FK's Occasional Care /Crisis Support?
It is a one-off time-limited break for parents, carers, and children.
It provides time-out from the demands of the parenting and caring role during short periods of time (school holidays, weekends, etc.) or for short periods during the week.
We also assist you in the event that a crisis arises with placement breakdown, change of placement or emergency placement.
Occasional care and crisis support occurs in a variety of out-of-home settings. It can be for different lengths of time and frequency, depending on need of the parents or carers.
Children always welcome respite services, these are the best opportunity to get out from the normal routine and explore activities and places while having fun.

FK's Immediate or Crisis Support
This service is designed to assist case management of children and young people in care who need an urgent placement due to concerns for their immediate safety or during placement breakdowns. In this case, our qualified supervisor assumes the primary carer role temporarily until the case managing agency or DCJ Case Worker works through the complexities of the child/young person situation.
Our workers – in coordination with case managers – ensure all the child/young person’s needs (basic needs, social and educational needs) are met during the period they are engaged with our service. The child/young person participation is always encouraged when working on occasional and crisis care plans.
We respect the child’s views and wishes, the child’s strengths, needs and vulnerabilities and work on all requirements to ensure the child’s safety, welfare, and wellbeing.
